Native Speed: Building Landing Pages with WordPress FSE

Ditching slow page builders for native WordPress Full Site Editing. My April 2025 workshop notes on building high-conversion pages without the bloat.

Stop paying the “Builder Tax.”

In April 2025, I led a hands-on session at WordPress Chiang Mai focused on Full Site Editing (FSE). The room was divided: half were die-hard Elementor fans, the other half were tired of slow loading speeds and constant plugin updates.

My argument was simple: If you want AI Visibility, you need speed. AI crawlers don’t want to dig through layers of heavy shortcodes; they want clean, semantic HTML.

Why FSE is the “Architect’s” Choice:

  • Zero Bloat: It’s native to WordPress. No extra CSS libraries slowing down your Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).
  • Intuitive Logic: Designing with blocks is closer to how modern web architecture actually works.
  • Security: Fewer third-party builders means a smaller attack surface for the vulnerabilities I frequently document in my Security Research.

We built a professional landing page from scratch in under an hour. No custom code, just smart use of the native block system.

The takeaway: High performance isn’t about what you add; it’s about what you remove.
